:[ Happie New Year 2006 ]:

This is the first post in my NEW YEAR~!! thats rite~ the new year is mine! Im gonna make the best out of it.

(This post is written roughly @ 0050hrs - juz for the record)

Wooh had been busy wif alot of fun-filled activities with my fellow cell group members~ Just last weekend was Christmas. I went for 2 services. I juz gotta comment that the drama was totally radically awesomness! Insync wif the preaching.. which has alwaes been in tip top condition. Neber had i sat in such an amazing plot. with state of the art special effects.(i went to a couple of plays b4... erm... ok la~ two or three onli) The characters, video crew, live musicians, audio (telephone ring etc), lightings and wat not.. all syncronize 2gether. To mi i considered it futuristic. Than there are a few frenz whu joined us~!! Glad they came! hope they enjoy it too. as i had.

I rem once pastor said CHRIST is like hw He is like on earth.. He dun look attractive outwardly.. but once we gotta noe Him. He is wat everyone desires. =))
So we gotta look beyond religion and churching~ its relationship~

Than we went marina sq for a meal after sunday's dinner.. Than had a simple coffee & hot tea @ holland village wif a few frenz.. Than ordering hot tea is a good choice. coz we can alwaes refill the hot water for another round. i spent 5bucks and i drank slowly and refilled 5 times.

Than last fri (30th Dec) had a cg bbq event. juz a simple bbq. it was fun! realli fun! got funny part also but they din put it dwn.. so i shall tell ya (hope ya forgive mi =]])~ junjie said the 7-11 was close sometimes back coz of some stock refilling. He went there again on friday and said it was still closed. lolx He was lookin at the back door.. the front door has alwaes open. lolx emy wanted to use the lighter to light the fire starter. (its those old sch lighter where there is a wheel that gives the spark & the gas pedal.) She kept pressing the gas pedal without spinning the spark wheel. than she commented.. "hey hw come got no fire de?" "i juz nw saw kevin like dat press" lolx~ hard to describe our laughter. Yup the bbq details... plz look at the 2 double 'J' blog. Junjie & jOjO. u muz quickly go check it out.. coz they update their blog frequently.

Than there was cell group meeting (31st Dec 2005) @ cyn's place. can i say its the best cell group meeting of the year??! I felt like a c-- baby. ehem. Than i recieve the Greatness of Heart award this year round. (Din manage to make a speech which i had prepared in my pocket.. ehem...)
Anywaes.. than the end of year 2005. I had finished the race of 2005. keeping to a few 'resolution' which i had prepared at the begining. Last year (2005) my theme was to 'work' (can review back to mi 2005 jan entry) did get myself a lil busy at times.. more of a hand to mouth thingy compared to my previous years.. So 06 my theme is Relationship / Deeper Consecration. (if ya noe wat it means) hee~

Recently, had spent alot of time with my church frenz.. (was it onli recently or did i juz realise) I muz say i truly enjoy hanging out wif everyone of them. If ya notice.. alot of new frenz whu did not join our church family dun mind hangin out wif us. And we all love them also. And like cyn said, it takes us All to put aside our self, time, background, difference etc.. with breakthrus & breakthrus & Jesus in our hearts and so we enjoy each other company. (sumthing like dat.. *mattlex amplified version) I think it works in any relationship yea..?

And truly I enjoy being with W279! Yes u may noe im a lil older. (ok i juz turn 24..) but hey in 2005, i had this once in a lifetime chance to re-live my life again as a 14 year old. Why not~ Not many pple had this opportunity. And i treasured it! Thank you guyz!~!

And im FREEE~~ YOU paid the price* ~~~~ =)

Woohoo! Finally im clearing my leaves~! You have no idea how it feels! Hee~ well at least for the army guyz. Yesterday a long lost bmt buddy (basic military training - 1st training in the army) Ah Hock called mi.. after 2 years~ "Oei!! Horr Saee Bohh?!" "haha~! horr sae arr!" i replied. Why did he called mi out of a sudden..? Did he join MLNs? =D
Ah Hock: "Ehh.. Clear leave ardy??"
Mattlex: "Clear leave liaoz!"
Ah Hock: "I started clearing leaves 2 weeks ago leh~"
Ah Hock: "Ehh.. Beri Shiok leh~ Feelin so shiok leh~ Wahaha!"
Mattlex: "Yea Yea man!! Wahaha"
Ah Hock: "I've been playing my PS2 all day long!"
....and so the conversation continues
Ah Hock is a nice and simple guy. And he is also beri funny. Lighten up my BMT days. I remember juz 2 days b4 we finished our BMT course, Ah Hock had a knee injury and so he was limping everywhere on Tekong Island. So he was excuse of running and everything else.. but on our way to the ferry to leave the island, everyone of us was running. Than as i turn my head to my left. This Ah Hock was limping faster than myself. He turn and said.. "Bo ehh~ leaving the island sure can run!" than he continued, "I got knee injury only in Tekong~" =) this is quite true though. I'd rem once i had a high fever and feeling weak in tekong. But once i step onto Singapore soil, my fever subsided and i felt better all of a sudden.

Mi and ah hock shared our joy with one another b4 we hung up. And juz b4 he called, i was actualli standing and looking out of my window. lookin at the view of spore. than i rem back in 2003, it was nitetime and i was in tekong island standing by the beach, looking at the ports of spore. "Man.." i told the person beside mi. When can we set our foot back on that island..?" At that time, all i could countdown to is in 2 weeks time, we could make our 1st weekend back home. Neber dare think of the time when i will be out of the army. (I was to serve 2yr4mths but it will be frm 2003,04,05 till 06) 3 bdaes, 3 xmas & 3 chinese new year in the army.

So im clearing my leaves now~! Woohoo~! Neber been so slack for soo long. I couldnt believe it sometimes.. I was leaning my head on my bed frame last nite. one foot on the floor and the other on the bed. jotting down some notes. with my guitar on the floor. than i doze off and awoke again. Doze off and awoke.. at 11pm i was like.. 'Arrh nvm la~' i made my pillow and dunk my head into it. *poof* snore~~ next thing i realise it was 8am on my clock. didnt off my msn yet. Last few nites i slept at about 2pm and awoke at 10 to 11am. So i woke up and refresh myself. Brought Debbie downstairs for a walk. Went to katong at 11am to print some posters. Than i went to look for jasmine (haben seen her for months) at parkway parade. shop awhile than i made my way to junction8. Met up with wenzhi too~! Made my way home about 9pm than i suddenly ask myself this.. "What day isst 2dae~?"
Ooh man am i soo wasted~ haa~ guess i juz switch off after so long. (let mi explain longer~ opps! =D) Its been a long time.. =/ I was mentally tuned to wake up early on weekdays and only can wake up late on fridays and saturdays. Sometime, i got so used to it that i woke up early on weekends too. Now, i can wake up late or early regardless of the day. And its called freedom yea~? Freedom from regiments! Its a great relief kind of feel. I had my goatee growing again too~! i mizz my goatee. And i have been catching up with my movies.. from Chicken little to Van Helsing to Dodgeball and loads.

Haa~ mattlex is not back in slackerland 4ever though.. =D There is always a time to rest and a time to work yea~? The next time i rest, it would probably be when i retire.

I did had this lil tot to 'sign on' in the army b4, as i couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Now i had tasted that freedom. its soo good. I thank God i wasnt that short sighted. Even my good superior told mi not to join the army. =) Freedom is worth a good fight yea?

So i plan to look for a job probably in Jan. After i finish my army commitments. A new phase of my life begins.. =))
Till then i still have some unfinish business.. which is NO business~ (at least not that u noe of) =D

:[ I hate prudential insurance and MLNs ]:

Had sometimes liaoz since i wanted to post this entry~
Dis is the longest entry to date~ =]

I dislike Prudential insurance and MLNs (Multi-level Networking)
Dun fall into their trap.
I noe wenzhi will agree with mi on the MLN part..
Well.. to start off with MLNs.. wat are they?? They are a way of selling products. It's a gimmick kindof thing. There are 3 basic ways they use.
1) u buy their product
2) u join their company and sell their product
3) in order to join their company to sell, u gotta buy their product first.
They will promise ya that you can strike it rich selling their product. They will try and try to convince you.. if ya dun wana sell, they will ask ya to buy. if ya dun wana buy, sell~
Personally, i had such things coming since secondary sch.. Wasted hours of my time sitting in their office wanting to convince mi.. I was naive and i tot i could strike it rich when i was younger. but i didnt join coz i had no one to sell my products to. Than as the years gone by, i realise what a rotten networking market this is. A few pep i noe did joined. Some joined years ago.. But todae, they are not driving any BMWs as one of them had convince mi years ago.. "This is the path to riches!" "Look at ur life now, soo wasted!" he was saying this to another fren that day.. We used to be good buddies in sch. But when he join this MLN, every fren he see became a potential customer. Just recently, an army fren of mine called mi to chat and to go out with him. (fancy he didnt call me out when we were earlier in the army.) Called mi everyday to ask mi out. Said he is now helping his fren look after a cafe behind Mr Beans at selegie. The cafe is called Blend In. And he asked mi to go down for a drink. Thank God i got a fren called Dick. He is a knowledgable guy in this field. As i mentioned 'Blend In' He warned mi that it is an MLN company. "how could it be as its a cafe?" i asked. He said that their office are located above the cafe. Hahaa~ phew i didnt went there.. i told Dick. But he is gonna get it from mi if he continue to pester mi to go to 'his fren' cafe.
So how does such MLNs zombies woo you??
They will ask ya out for an innocent outing. soon they will ask ya to go to this particular place for a drink or makan.. Than they will tell ya his/her company. Which is just located nearby or above that eating place u are at. Than they will ask ya to go up for a look. Once you are in, they will sit u down and start describing about their product. Usually, ur fren's superior would be toking to ya with ya fren beside. Than when the superior failed to convince you, he will excuse himself to the toilet. and than ur fren will start to convince you. Than the superior will come back. Once everything is done, you will notice that you had wasted half a day in that office. And you will start to curse that trickster fren of urs. How do ya noe their procedures..? Well.. they are all the same. The same toilet tricks and all.. mayb some are done in a cafe.. the fren of urs will ask ya to meet another fren of his and blah blah blah.. Also if ya tell them that you noe about MLNs already.. they will tell ya that their company are 'different from the rest'. (its all the same phase)
Different benefits for their pple too.
So in camp, i met this army fren of mine last wednesday as we went for our medical checkup with a few others. When he was there, he was complaining of boredom that day and asked if anyone wants to go to Paradiz Centre (at selegie near Blend In) for a game of pool or billard. So now we know his game..
So hw to earn $$ in MLN?
You sell their product, you get a commission. (there is no basic pay) So they will encourage you to sell to your relatives and frenz. And if ya recruit pple to join their company, they will be under you. and you will earn a commision also from the sales your fren has made. You will also earn from your fren's recruit. Sounds like easy $$ when you have pple under you. But the truth is none of the pepz i knew that join this craze ever make it big. The real truth is that only those businessmen that started this thing are earning. and they are earning from their employees.. not customers.
What product are they usually selling?
Health products that are not common. they are one of a kind. it could be vitamin pills or facial care products.
magnetic mattress.. (the earlier mention sec sch fren and army fren are selling this) this special mattress imprive blood circulation and they do work. But you dun nid such sophisicated stuff.. a good sleep is a good sleep yea? and if they prevent health hazards like they promised, than their first customers should be our hospitals. Anywae, a mattress cost $1k to $2k.
Some less common products MLNs sells are educational materials..

Prudential insurance~
I dun totally hate prudential. Juz the way they approach pple and their customers. Though they approach badly, their insurance policies are the best in the market right now.
twice in a month, i was pestered by their agent. Once i was at J8 with my fren Dick, (good thing he is an expert in such stuff) we were planning to go somewhere for supper. Than a 'surveyor' approach us to do a survey. showing no signs that they are an insurance company. 1st thing when we sat down, they get for us a can drink. They do this to physologically ask ya to sit longer. and to put u off guard. They said its a 5 mins survey. In the end, i spend 3hrs sitting there listening to their policy plan. haiz.. pple are being kind and polite not to reject them but they make use of ur kindness to sell their stuff. Dick is an expert in such stuff.. at times they try to bluff thru their policies but Dick was quick to correct them (as he had learned their policies b4) So they aim at me. Saying things like its only $200 a month. But come to think of it, once i sign that contract, its about $30k of my savings in their hands. And they got the cheek to ask for a high $200 a month.
Another agent that pestered mi is my teenage fren. Called mi out of a sudden after a few years. His nick is Sotong.. "hey~ hw are you?" "free anot??" "wanna go out for a drink?" Sounded juz like an MLN. So i asked him, wat are you working as... He said he is a 'financial advisor'. So i continued to ask him.. "are you working in a bank?" "No..." he replied. "Prudential insurance~" There and there i knew wat is he up to. So i said ok! cya! As we put down the phone, i msg him that im not interested in UR FINANCIAL PLANS and UR INSURANCE POLICIES. Than he msg mi back saying "wah u this type call fren ar?! go out drink coffee only!" So i replied, "haha i understand you are a very good fren! This is a very old trick that you are using" Than he replied.. "aiya since you given other pple a chance, give mi a chance also" I didnt reply him liaoz..

So now you know why i hate them... Wenzhi also kana once recently.. by a working collegue. How cheated she had felt.. haiz~ Unless you wana join.. if not, we gotta beware of such zombies/tricksters around.

How to take precautions..?
When an old fren suddenly call ya out of the blue, Ask wat is he/she working as or wat company. When you wana meet up with somebody, you decide the place to meet. (usually the place to eat or settle down) When they offer you a drink, dun take it. If you are in the trap, juz walk away. Dun nid to give them face. becoz they juz want ur money. You dun have to be kind to them. And fear not. They wun do anything to ya coz their company is at stake.

Haiz~ juz beware of such pepz ba.. They are all around. My aunt used to join also.. but she didnt pester or ask to buy.

:[ Cousin's Big Day ]:

So touch sarah~! hahaa~ at least someone appreciates mi bloggin! XD

Just came back from my cousin's wedding 'day ceremony'. Wonder whats the real name. Well its the first time mi witness such a ceremony. Gotta reach her place by 0645am before the groom make his way around 0700am.

Well, she is the first cousin of mine that got married among the rest of us. She is my mom's relative side de. We used to play 2gether when we were younger. I stayed over her place when i was a kid a couple of times and we hang out almost every Chinese New Year. When we get older we got drifted apart only to see each other once a year. hmm.. regret being such a punk last time.

Now its the first time i see the groom fetching the bride and it's like wat we witness on TV, the guy got to pass some sabo obstacles set by the 'jie meis' or 'sisters' b4 gettin to see the bride. hahaa~ and its quite 'terok'. They plan some wasabi stuff plus some ribenna stuff etc. Than one of the steady 'brothers' help the groom gulp down all the sabo potion. but b4 every of these, it was~~

sisters: "yi shi (means 'sincerity' in chinese) how to show??"
sisters: "yi shi how to show??" X2

After a little bargain.. i heard some 'kopi' here 'kopi' there
brothers: "na~~!" (means 'take it' in singlish)

Than the sisters let out some sound of content. =) (we could guess it was the door money they were asking) than started the obstacle course. one of the big one was that the groom need to go down to the ground floor to sing a song for my cousin to hear. My cousin is staying on the 4th floor. So this poor guy sang 'yue liang dai piao wo de xing' in the rain. the good 'brothers' carry the umbrella for him. He gotta portray his voice loud so its out of tune. hahaa~ but he was daring to continue singing.. Than the sis complained it was too soft. Asking his 'brothers' to help him too.

groom and bros: "ni wen~ wo ai~ ni you~ duo shen~ wo ai~~.."

So finally went into the hse. but on the request of the bride, gotta read out a set of 'Do's and Don'ts Contract.. and sign it! b4 entering the room. some on the list was.. 'I gotta let my wife watch her TV program if it clashes with hers.' 'Gotta share the housework together.. he will do 70%, she will do 30%' 'Gotta hold her hand whenever they are out' and 'follow her shopping every weekend' etc etc.. Amazing~! Does gurls thinks of these rules in their free time?? =X

So the groom finally saw his bride. Lift up her veil and kiss her. Now all was done for their next phase. soon after some photo takings, the groom brought her to visit his parents b4 making it back here for the tea ceremony. mi n my brother went home first for a quick nap. Upon reaching home, Debbie was hyper actively welcoming us back. She is such a joy!

0200pm the newly wed made it back to the bride's hse. So we started the tea ceremony. Everyone of her family was being offered or offering tea. Including myself. So paiseh.. its my 1st time. it was funny. When it came to my turn, i stand in front of the couple.. after some confusion, i was standing there infront of the couple with my smiling teeth on my face for a few seconds. they look at mi and i look at them. with the tea cups by my side. than everyone broke into a laughter. "Oh!" i quickly reach for the cups and offered them..

mattlex: "Piao Jie Fu, He Cha~" ("cousin hubby, drink tea~")
mattlex: "Piao Jie, He Cha~" =)

and i was financial blessed! amen! Now i receive from my cousin.

So the next thing was the photo taking sessions.. family and friends..
Yup and soon later we went home.. shook their hands once more b4 mi n my brother left.. 2ml would be thier wedding dinner.

Quite bless by the whole event. It was a joyous time and also gotta learn about some stuff bout chinese customary.. hee~
